Dr. Mitchell graduated from the Air Force Academy where he was an All-American athlete and the only athlete in USAFA history to start and letter in both basketball and football. His medical degree came from Tulane University Medical School. Dr. Mitchell is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery and the Air Force Academy Alumni Association, and is the Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery at the United States Air Force Academy Hospital. Today, his interests include professional and amateur sports and the arts. Dr Mitchell has a general orthopaedic practice with a special emphasis in spine surgery and sports medicine.
